Therapy for Neurodivergent Young Adults

Support for Autism, ADHD, and OCD

Young adulthood can be a time of major transitions—navigating school, work, relationships, independence, and identity. For neurodivergent individuals, these transitions can come with unique challenges, but also unique strengths.

We offer therapy for neurodivergent young adults navigating Autism, ADHD, and OCD who want support understanding themselves, building practical life skills, and learning ways to move through anxiety, overwhelm, and uncertainty with greater confidence.

Our approach is neurodiversity-affirming, which means therapy is not about trying to “fix” who you are. Instead, we work together to understand how your brain works, build strategies that support you, and develop self-compassion and acceptance.

A Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach

Neurodivergent minds experience the world differently—and those differences are valid. Many people spend years feeling misunderstood, masking their authentic selves, or being told they are “too sensitive,” “too intense,” or “not trying hard enough.”

In therapy, we focus on:

  • Understanding how your brain works

  • Reducing shame and building self-acceptance

  • Identifying your strengths and values

  • Developing practical tools that actually work for you

  • Creating a life that feels more authentic and sustainable

Approaches Used in Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT can be especially helpful for autistic and ADHD individuals who experience overwhelm, burnout, or self-criticism. Together we work on:

  • Learning skills to handle difficult thoughts and emotions

  • Reducing the pressure to constantly “mask”

  • Clarifying your personal values

  • Building a life that aligns with what matters to you

ACT focuses on psychological flexibility—the ability to move toward meaningful goals even when life feels difficult.

Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT) for OCD

For clients experiencing obsessive thoughts or compulsive behaviors, we incorporate principles from Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (ICBT).

ICBT focuses on understanding how OCD creates doubt and intrusive thoughts, helping you learn to:

  • Recognize when OCD reasoning is occurring

  • Reduce compulsions and reassurance seeking

  • Rebuild trust in your own perceptions and reasoning

  • Develop confidence in your ability to tolerate uncertainty
